Planning a wedding? Make your dreams come true, right here in Johnny Appleseed Country! Located just an hour from Boston but brimming with country charm, a wedding in the Johnny Appleseed region is a fairy tale come true. Rolling hills with spectacular vistas; white-steepled churches on historic town commons; puffy apple blossoms in the spring and brilliant foliage in the fall; intimate inns and elegant mansions — Johnny Appleseed Country has all the elements for a picture-perfect wedding day.

It’s not unusual on a quiet summer afternoon to see a horse-drawn carriage or shiny limousine parked on the Templeton town common while a wedding party poses for photos in the community’s gazebo. The picturesque structure may have been the site of the wedding ceremony — or the happy bride and groom may have just emerged from the historic First Church, a quintessentially New England building across the street.

From centuries-old churches to sweeping meadows, picture-perfect settings for ceremonies and receptions alike seem almost limitless in Johnny Appleseed Country.

The Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, a 200-acre property known for its art galleries and Shaker farmhouse is highlighted by a panoramic view encompassing the Nashoba River Valley — and offers endless opportunities for exceptional photos.

And in Boylston, Tower Hill Botanic Garden
literally blooms with photogenic settings. Its unique Orangerie, a magnificent glass-ceilinged building, and its expansive gardens offer an unusual blend of country and elegance.

The Harding-Allen Estate in Barre is described as a place where “the grandeur of Newport intertwines with the beauty of Vermont in the heart of Massachusetts.”  The magnificent mansion built during the Roaring Twenties evokes memories of the style and opulence of that bygone era — in a community that has managed to maintain its small-town ambiance.

Small towns are the heartbeat of Johnny Appleseed Country. Communities like Barre, Petersham and Ashburnham, still remarkably rural in the 21st century, are home to a host of inns and B&Bs that cater to starry-eyed couples interested in getting away from it all.

Wedding guests will be entranced by the sweeping views at Wachusett Mountain Ski Area orLeominster’s Sholan Farms, which overlooks the city and rolling hillsides. The iconic millpond at Old Mill Restaurant in Westminster (pictured left) and the covered bridge at the Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley (pictured at the top) have provided New England backgrounds for countless weddings and wedding photos.

Beautiful flowers for your special occassion can be provided by Valley Florist in Gardner.
