The Theatre Bug program is a two-week introduction to the wonderful world of theatre for the very young student. The program combines theatre games, pantomime, music, dance and creative play. Through storytelling, expressive movement and improvisation, students discover the joy of being bitten by the “theatre bug.” Supervised recreation and a T-shirt are included. Classes will be held in the morning and will include acting, music, dance and more. In the afternoon we will rehearse and learn the thrill of putting on a play. Drawing explores fundamentals of still life, portraiture and illustration for students at every ability level. Studio time is geared toward individual student project ideas, needs and creative vision while building skills and experimentation through technique and materials such as graphite, charcoal, ink, and colored pencil. The beginning to advanced level student creates several artworks by utilizing and experiencing a professional art studio space, the natural environment, and personal exposure to the Museum’s collection. We'll discuss different types of self-portraits, look at examples from art history and in the Museum’s galleries, and discuss the meanings of common symbols as a basis for developing your own personal symbolism. July 15-18 12:30-2:30pm. Fitchburg Art Museum: Teen Intensive Studio (for ages 13-17). Fitchburg Art Museum: Painted Prints with Pam Lawson. Join this class and experiment with monotype, a fun method for making one-of-a-kind images. Unlike labor-intensive linoleum or woodblock prints, your printmaking plate is a flat piece of acrylic plastic onto which you paint, dab, or roll water-based inks to create a picture. Once the ink is applied you can create brilliant white lines and shapes by drawing into it with a stick or wiping it away with a rag. You can work from your imagination, photographs, or your own drawings. When your image is complete, it is printed onto paper with an etching press.
