Start out your trip with a visit to the Johnny Appleseed Visitor Center in Lancaster, located betweens exits 35 and 34 on Rte. 2W. Interest in a quiet getaway might get you directed to visit the town of Petersham with its evocative Town Common and cemetery With its charming B&Bs, quaint General Store (the creaky, wide-plank floors are free!) and antiquing possibilities, it is a tiny jewel. Stop for a late lunch or brunch at the Old Mill Restaurant just off Rte. 2 on Rte. 2A. in Westminster. Visit Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, in winter a skiers’ paradise, in summer a destination for vista-lovers and festival-goers.
