Below is a list of what is going on in Johnny Appleseed Country during the month of June. If you are aware of an event that is going on in our region that is not listed here, email it to us, we will be glad to put it on for all our visitors to see!

5 Saturday, 9 am – 1 pm.
Yard Sale at the Gardner Museum, 28 Pearl St., Gardner. Antiques, jewelry and attic treasures and more. Call 978-632-3277. 

5 Saturday. 1-5pm. Symboline Dai: astrologer and tarot card reader. She is the author of "The Astrological Elements" and "Moon Signs" which is syndicated in the "Boston Phoenix". 5-6 Saturday & Sunday, 11 am–3 pm. Shear Fun Fest at Davis’ Farmland, 145 Redstone Hill Rd., Sterling. It’s time to shear those woolly coats and spin right into summer! Farmer Fred shears sheep, llamas and alpacas while he “spins a yarn” about his experiences. See spinning demos, make your own sheep craft out of real wool and learn how wool goes from the sheep's back to your favorite sweater! Call 978-422-MOOO. 

6 Sunday, 4 pm. Historic Piano concert featuring Yi-heng Yang at the Ashburnham Community Church, 9 Chapel Street at Main Street, Ashburnham. Admission $10, children and students, free. 10 Thursday, 6 pm. An Evening With Mike Richard at the Gardner Museum, 28 Pearl St., Gardner. Mike will be speaking on Gardner history, the people and unique tales which have been a part of his popular “The Gardner Scene” column in The Gardner News for the past six years. Wine & Cheese Reception from 6-7 pm, demo and lecture 7-8 p.m. Call 978-632-3277. 

11-12 Friday & Saturday. Greater Gardner Relay for Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society, at Mt. Wachusett Community College, 444 Green St., Gardner. Thousands of area residents converge at the college to raise money for a cause. Music, raffles, food and fun add a festive atmosphere to the effort. Relay starts at 6 pm Friday with Survivors’ Lap and runs right through the night. Visit www.relayforlife.org. 

12 Saturday, 10 am–4 pm. Garden Tour: Indian Hill Music’s “Rhapsody in Bloom.” Tour private country gardens in Groton. Instrumental music performed in each garden; catered gourmet box lunch under a tent. Tickets: $20 in advance (not including lunch.) Event held rain or shine. 12 Saturday, 11 am–8 pm. St. Anthony Italian Festa at St. Anthony School, 123 Salem St., Fitchburg. Events include a cash raffle, live entertainment, arcade games, an inflatable obstacle course and velcro wall for the kids! Delicious Italian specialties and summer fare will highlight the day. 

12 Saturday. 3-4:30pm. DB Johnson in store. Author of "Henry Hikes to Fitchburg." Escher fans of grades 1-5 and andults encouraged. The Rabbit Hole Bookstore, 805 Main Street, Fitchburg. 


12 Saturday, 4:30 pm.
Starburst ’10 at Doyle Field, Leominster. The All City Youth Chorus, All City School Band, Leominster High School Jazz Band, a magician, and the Starburst band provide an evening of music under the stars, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. Free admission. Bring a blanket, lawn chair, picnic basket and enjoy an evening filled with fun and music. (Rain date June 13). Call Nona Ojala at 978-537-2904. 

12 Saturday, 8 pm. Suzy Bogguss performs at the Bull Run Restaurant, Route 2A, Shirley. Suzy won the Country Music Association’s Horizon Award in 1992 and Album of the Year Award in 1994, ASCAP country and pop awards for her song-writing, and in 2005 a Grammy for her contribution to the Best Folk Album, Beautiful Dreamer. 18-19 Friday & Saturday, 8 pm. “Always…Patsy Cline” at Theatre at the Mount, 444 Green St., Gardner. The true story of the special friendship between two women, one a rising star and the other a devoted fan, over a pot of strong coffee in Louise's kitchen and through letters and phone calls shared until Patsy's untimely death. Re-live the magic through the songs that made Patsy Cline a pop and country music legend.Call 978-632-2403. Repeats June 25-27. 

18-20 Friday & Saturday, 7:30 pm; Sunday, 2 pm. “Witness for The Prosecution,” a mystery by Agatha Christie, at Barre Players Theater, 64 Common St., Barre. (Teen Summer Production; ages 14 – 24.) Strawberry Festival at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce St., Winchendon. Games of chance and skill, raffles, food, and, of course, strawberry shortcake! Breakfast served on Sunday morning.

24 Thursday, 3 pm.
Vic and Sticks and the Recycled Rhythm Band at Community Room, Leominster Public Library, 25 West St. This fast-paced music show with lots of audience participation is free and is suitable for all ages. No registration is required. 

25-27 Friday & Saturday, 8 pm, Sunday 2 pm.

Summer Stroll in downtown Leominster. Come “stroll” down memory lane as we celebrate the Leominster of decades past.

Open House at the Gardner Museum, 28 Pearl St., Gardner. Yankee Engine-uity steam engine show at the Orange Airport, East River Street, Orange. Sponsored by the Central Massachusetts Steam, Gas & Machinery Association, the show features hundreds of antique steam and gas engines driving a variety of farm machinery, along with cars, music, food vendors, antiques and collectibles. Summer Festival at the Finnish Center at Saima Park, 67 Scott Road, Fitchburg. Saturday features a barn dance and bon fine; Sunday’s program includes a chicken barbecue. Call 978-582-7717.

Carnival Weekend at Davis’ Farmland, 145 Redstone Hill Rd., Sterling. Step right up and try your luck in the inflatable obstacle course or noodle blasting a Farmer! Watch a live gymnastics show, create spin art and enjoy popcorn, sno-cones, and, of course, cotton candy! Call 978-422-MOOO. 

27 Sunday, 2 pm.
Concert by Help at Coggshall Park, Electric Avenue, Fitchburg. Free admission. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the concert on the bandstand at Mirror Lake. 

27 Sunday, 4-7 pm.
Strawberry Festival, 725 Main Street, Lancaster, on the grounds of the First Church of Christ (the Bullfinch church). Light meal and a variety of strawberry desserts served outdoors, weather permitting, and indoors if weather is unpleasant. Call 978-365-2427 weekdays. 

30 Wednesday, 6:30 pm.
Songs for the Environment with Roger Tincknell at the Thayer Memorial Library, Main Street, Lancaster. Earth Rhythms is an interactive music program that celebrates and teaches environmental awareness and responsibility. Hear songs, stories, legends and facts to the accompaniment of the Aztec rain stick, Native American drum, Incan flute, Russian balalaika, banjo, guitar, mandolin and harmonica.
