Below is a list of what is going on in Johnny Appleseed Country during the month of September. If you are aware of an event that is going on in our region that is not listed here, email it to us, we will be glad to put it on for all our visitors to see!

1 Monday, 10 am – 6 pm. 8th Annual Harvest Festival at Sholan Farms, 1125 Pleasant St., Leominster. Live entertainment, apple picking, hayrides, hiking, story telling, and good old fashioned fun at Sholan Farms. Great food, numerous free, interactive children’s events, and so much more at this fun family festival! For information call 978-840-FARM or visit www.sholanfarms.com.

1 Monday, 10 am – 7 pm. Spencer Fair continues at Smithfield Road, Spencer. The Spencer Agricultural Association presents this fair with stage shows, animal shows and exhibits, demolition derbies, midway rides and games. See August 29 listing for more details. Admission $10 adults, $6 seniors and children 7 to 12; children under 7 free. Weekend pass $25. Visit www.spencerfair.org.

4 Thursday, 4 – 8 pm. First Thursday Block Party on Main Street, Fitchburg. With a theme of “Home and Harvest,” the block party welcomes visitors to downtown. Call Ellen DiGeronimo at 978-345-9602.

5-7 Friday, 5 – 11 pm, Saturday, 10 am – 11 pm, Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm. Sterling Fair at the Sterling Airport, Greenland Road. Livestock, crafts, farmers market, fireworks, horse and oxen pulls, antique tractor pulls, antique machinery and tractors, midway, food and entertainment. Call Terry Heniol, 978-422-6741.

13&14 Saturday & Sunday. Apple Fest Weekend at Davis’ Farmland, 145 Redstone Hill Road, Sterling. Join us for the opening of the apple orchard and enjoy all our apple events. Call 978-422-MOOO.

20&21 Saturday and Sunday, 9 am – 3 pm. Townsend Historical Society’s Annual Arts and Crafts Show on Townsend common, Routes 119 and 13. Proceeds benefit the Historical Society.

20&21 Saturday and Sunday, 10 am – 5 pm. North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival at Forster’s Farm, 60 Chestnut Hill Road, Orange. Mark your calendars for The Festival that Stinks! Admission: $5 per day for adults, $8 for weekend pass; kids 12 and under free. For information, visit www.garlicandarts.org.
