All About Alpacas
September 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Keith Tetreault from Plainview Farm in Hubbardston, MA, will tell you all about Alpacas, the gentle creatures that are easily kept and bred, providing a good investment and a great way of life.
Alpacas were an integral part of the ancient Incan civilization in the mountains of South America. The lovable, long-lashed camelids were first imported to the United States in 1984. Of the various camelid species, the alpaca are among the most valuable fiber-bearing animals. Like cashmere, alpaca is a natural fiber that looks and feels luxurious, and it can be equally, if not more, durable. Alpacas come in range of more than twenty naturally gorgeous colors, from inky black to warm chestnut and snowy white, and their wool is lofty, soft, and warm.
